Who is Aiste Schaus?

Freelance writer and photographer in Utrecht, the Netherlands. Born and raised in Vilnius, Lithuania. A previous expat in Oslo, Norway.

In one hand I have a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Culture and Media from University of Groningen, and in another - master’s degree in Applied Musicology from Utrecht University. Somewhere in a pocket there is also a bacherlor’s degree in Scandinavian Studies (Norwegian as the main language) from Vilnius University.

I am open to write concert and/or album reviews, interviews and/or press releases for artists, online publications and magazines.

Next to my occupation as a writer about music, I have been practicing photography over 10 years now. The adventure started with the DSLR Canon EOS 550D that is still serving me up to this day. It is my loyal companion when it comes to event photography or organized photoshoots. Simultaneously, I have been incorporating analogue methods, largely in my daily life and more frequently in photoshoots and events. Analogue photography has taught me to cherish the beauty of a flashing moment in a single shot instead of an automated impulse of taking hundred pictures with a digital camera. I also develop (black&white!) and scan the pictures that are taken on analogue which adds a human touch to the final result.
